Urban Male - Pantyhose and Mirdles

There was an article on the Straits Times Urban Section (dated 19 Dec 2009) on the topic of "Men shape up with Mirdles" . I read the article with much interest.

The trend seems to be moving towards men being more conscious of how their own body look. It used to be that the ladies are more conscious of how their body look. But hey ... the men have started to be more conscious. In view of this trend, undergarments manufacturers have taken initiatives to introduce body shaping undergarments for men into the market. " Undergarments that help women cut a better silhouette have crossed into men's clothing department, including girdles for men known as mirdles" read a paragraph from the article.

In recent years, men clutching "man bags" are a common sight in hip urban centres. Even eyeliners for men - guyliners - has found a following. Now, popping up in men's clothing departments are body-sculpting undergarments. Perhaps one day, we will find a Wacoal or some other brands with body sculpting/shaping undergarments in men's department in Singapore. Perhaps in Robinsons or even lingerie boutiques?

Equmen willstart selling a body-slimming Core Precision Undershirt designed to squeeze inches off a man's beer belly and improve his posture. Spanx (famous for their body shaping pantyhoses) is planning a collection for men probably in 2009.

Men are also purchasing hosiery for themselves and are looking for hosiery styles that help them with improving circulation (to relieve leg fatigue, prevent DVT), or men simply like the look and feel of the shiny pantyhose. Luxelegwear carries about 13 different styles of hosiery for men.

It was a very impartial article, no making fun of men wearing bodyshaping undergarments or pantyhose. Just plain facts showing that fashion trend is gearing up for men wearing mirdles and pantyhose.

In time to come, we could see more men wearing pantyhose with shorts/bermudas in public.
