Hi,
I have started a new blog on hosiery and legwear.  Hence I will not be updating this blog often. I have also re-produced some of my postings here to the new blog site.

Proskins Slim, Proskins Sculpt FX

It so happened that this weekend (9 - 10 Jun), there was a promotion/offer on Proskins products at Velocity@Novena.  I thought ... hey!! Time to get a few more pieces of Proskin Slim products.

I had previously tried their Proskin Slim Leggings (though they market it for ladies), but I gave them a try nonetheless.  The leggings were very comfy and their compression was good.  I am wearing the leggings now as I type out this post.

The promotion was for a top and bottom - 30%-35% off.  That's like about $180-$210 for a top and bottom.  Most worthwhile combination would be the Proskins Slim Top or Proskins Sculpt FX with a pair of the Proskins Slim Leggings.

With the promotion, I went to buy the Proskins Sculpt FX top (see picture below) and another pair of the Proskins Slim Leggings.  When I asked the sales person for the size of the Proskins Slim leggings for myself, she seemed ok and just asked if I was really ok with wearing the leggings as they had the centre seam (the men's ones had kind of like a double seams to kind of create a panel for the male anatomy).  She even asked if I wore them under shorts!!  Just told her that I was fine with that and already wearing a pair a home previously. Haha.

This is the first time I try the Sculpt FX top and they say the top also has the same ingredients as the Proskins Slim Leggings.  Will have to try and see if they really work on the "out of shape" abs and the slight spare tire (around the waist).

Proskins Sculpt FX
Tried them on with the Proskins Slim Leggings ... I must say that they look really good together.  Compression from the shoulders down to the ankle.

If you are looking for compression wear for normal wear, you should give the Proskins Slim and Sculpt range a go.  I have not been disappointed so far.

More offers/promotions please ...

Proskins compression tights - review

Saw these Proskins Slim (compression) tights at a store in Novena Square.  These are tights with compression in the legs and are touted to help firming the legs as well as help in reducing cellulite.  These tights/leggings can be worn when you exercise or just lounging around your home.  It is also suitable for those who sit or stand for along hours in the office. Hmm .... so I thought I gave these tights a try since I always sit for long hours at work.

These Proskin tights may look like any normal pair of black leggings/tights, and they have a rather shiny appearance.  However, they are different.  The fabric exerts a gentle, comfortable squeeze on the limbs to improve blood flow and enhance lymphatic drainage.

These tights also contain caffeine (to boost circulation and promotes fat destruction), retinol (to improve skin firmness) and aloe vera (to soften skin).  These are packed into micro-capsules and woven into the yarns.  However, I really didn't care about the ingredients in these tights that are supposedly there to help make legs look cellulite-free and firmer and to slim the legs.

When I first took them out of the box, they felt soft and light.  Nothing like those compression tights for active exercise (eg. 2XU, Skins).  They really felt like a pair of footless tights/pantyhose with a very thick denier.  Putting them on was easy as they are very stretchy, yet exerts firm compression on the legs.  Once I had them on my legs, I hardly noticed they were there, probably due to the fact that they were skin-tight (not too tight to cut circulation) and they seems to regulate the body temperature.  They do not feel hot at all, given the hot humid weather here.  These are also quite shiny and smooth, just like a pair of shiny hosiery.

The compression on the legs was also great.  These seems to work like those support tights, just that these are footless, which also makes it great for wearing at home.  Works fine when I needed to sit in front of my computer at the desk for up to 2 to 3 hours at home.  They were so comfortable that I sometimes even wear them to sleep.  Keeps you warm on rainy/windy nights and cool on warmer nights.

For the ladies, if you are wearing these to help slim your legs, you will have to wear them for 8 hours daily for up to 28 days to see the slimming effect.  These tights claim to achieve the following as the Proskins trial suggests:

  • 76% slimming efficacy.
  • Up to 2cm reduction on thighs perimeter.
  • 65% efficacy reduction of fat nodes. Redensifying effect.
  • 63% of users stated a reduction of cellulite.
  • 67% felt their jeans were less tight.
  • 72% of users felt lightness sensation.

Only thing is that these tights are not really cheap.  They are priced in the range of 2XU and Skins Compression tights (around S$150 for the full length tights).

Personally, I am quite happy with the purchase and would consider getting another pair or 2 when they have some kind of sale/offer/promotional price.

How to get nice looking legs?

Everybody wants to have nice legs.  Legs that look smooth and make heads turn.   Here's 12 tips that may help to achieve that.

1.  Elevate your legs when sleeping.  This will increase blood flow.  Sometimes legs may not be fat, but look heavy due to bad blood circulation.

2.  Exercise to make your thin legs look better.  With better muscle tone, legs will look better.  Walking is one way to have shapely legs.

3.  Avoid standing for prolong periods of time to reduce the appearance of varicose veins.

4.  Spend 5 minutes daily to brush your legs with a natural bristle brush in an upward stroke towards your heart, while your legs are dry prior to taking your shower.  This can help lymphatic drainage system to remove toxins from your body and reduce cellulite from thighs/bottoms.  It also helps remove dead skin cells.

5.  During shower, use an exfoliant gel and massage the skin in circular motion.

6.  After shower, moisturise your legs.

7.  Finish your hot shower with a cold jet of water on your legs to help maintain good circulation.

8.  Avoid baths that are too hot.  This can cause dry scaly skin.

9.  Avoid excessive sun exposure.

10.  Prevent varicose veins by wearing graduated support hosiery.

11.  Drink your way to nice looking legs.  Drink lots of water to keep skin clear, healthy and resilient.

12.  Have a sensible diet and exercise regularly.

People wear compression or support hosiery for various reasons. According to information from Healthwise on WebMD , compression hosiery improve circulation with graduated compression from the foot up. They are used to prevent blood from pooling in the lower legs and feet, prevent swelling, and provide comfort. They are used to treat conditions like varicose veins, venous skin ulcers, deep vein thrombosis, as well as other problems. Support hosiery is also useful to people who must spend long periods standing or sitting and are recommended for people going on long flights or car trips.

Should experiencing one of these problems prevent someone from looking good and stylish? In the past compression hosiery were limited in color and texture. Today there are more choices than ever, and women/men can still look awesome while wearing compression hosiery. One is not limited to wearing long pants to cover up the hosiery.

  • These are some options available to make compression hosiery a fashion accessory rather than another clinical looking medical device.  Go forth and show off your legs in support hosiery !!!
